Abstract
PAISM: an endless story. This article develops a reflection in regard to the feminist perspective on family planning in Brazil. Although its first version was written in 1992, right after the UNCED in Rio the contents have not lost substance. Ten years ago the feminist movement has entered the political scenario of the population debate and the feminist approach has definitely contributed to alter its prevailing assumptions. An assessment of this political process is required as the decade gets to its end and new federal and state levels administrations are expected for 1995. The article focuses on overlapping dimensions: the 1983-1984 scenario, the feminist conceptual frameworks, frailties and controversies that may be identified in the political praxis and internal debates of the women's movement, the aggravation of the reproductive health conditions in Brazilian society. A final section explores the signs and possibilities of a renewed political consensus.Downloads
