Abstract

The São Paulo Metropolitan Area (SPMA), in Brazil, suffered a series of transformations in the last decade, as the strong interruption of its population growth. In this article we intend to show that the reduction of the flow of migration, in the regional demographic dynamic has as parallel the precariousness and the instability of working conditions of the population and specifically the migrant who less and less can insert itself in the sectors most active of the economy. The evidences empirical of National Research of Sample for Domiciles (PNAD) of 1992, 1995 and 1998 constitute a wide and up to dated list of trends migratory of the area, besides to contribute for a discussion extremely important, that will be able to help to desmistify the impact and the consequences of the migration for the region, that according to common sense are considered negatives, particularly in relation to the job market.
