Abstract
The aim of the paper is to discuss the contribution of the statistics regarding early childhood educacion (0 to 6 age group). The data produced by IBGE (Brazilian Statistics Bureau) permit the socio economic characterization of this specific age group as well as the kind of education they receive, such as day-care, pre-school and school. Through the School Census of the Ministry of Education it is possible to analyse the services for early childhood allowing the comparison between offer and demand for education. Finally, the National Account data allow the indentification of municipal, state and national expenses on early childhood education.Downloads
