Patterns of succession of generations. Historical persistence and change
Keywords:
Succession of generations, Demographic transitionAbstract
The article presents an analytic scheme that seeks to delineate and characterize a central process of demographic dynamics – the succession of generations (or the production of men) – as a component of social reproduction, without losing sight of decisive propositions of formal demography, especially the theory of stable populations. The article is basically theoretical, and involves an attempt at qualitative formalization, which indicates a possible way to classify movements of persistence and change in patterns of succession of generations or in one of their intrinsic components.Downloads
