Abstract

This paper has the purpose of analyzing the different choices for locating homes with at least one aged person (in this case, persons age sixty or over). The householders could choose among the nine regions that comprise the city of Belo Horizonte. The concept of Minimal Household Unit (MHU), developed by Ermisch and Overton, was employed to classify the different types of households. The Conditional Logit Model was applied for analyzing data. This model estimates the probabilities of choices, considering the characteristics of the areas. The consumers’ rational choices are the theoretic bases for the model.
