Abstract

The present study analyzes transformations that occurred in the areas of migratory influence in major economic regions of Brazil over the last three decades. On the basis of the urban hierarchy of the economic regions in Brazil, a model for identifying their areas of migratory influence is suggested. Based on the country’s geographical configurations obtained from the mapping of the results from 1980, 1991 and 2000, interesting considerations are brought up as to the dynamics of the migratory flows among the major economic regions in Brazil.
